For the Beauty of the Earth

I have always loved this hymn, probably because I have always enjoyed exploring the outdoors.

These words were written by 29-year-old Folliott Pierpoint when he was inspired by the natural beauty of his home in Bath, England.

Sheet music for this arrangement adapted for flute, oboe, and bassoon trio is available on Sheet Music Plus.

Music: Conrad Kocher, adapted by William Monk
Arranged for woodwinds (bassoon/flute) by Tracey Miller

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth,
Over and around us lies:

For the wonder of each hour
Of the day and of the night
Hill and vale, and tree and flow’r
Sun and moon and stars of light;:

For Thyself, best Gift Divine!
To mankind so freely giv’n;
For that great, great love of Thine,
Peace on earth and joy in heav’n:

Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.
